Ensuring indoor air quality
Most of us spend the majority of our time indoors—both at work and at home. It is important to HORN to ensure that the products we manufacture and supply do not risk having a negative impact on our end users’ indoor environment. Emissions from building materials and other products can affect indoor air quality. Therefore, it is important to choose products for which emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have been tested and documented.
We have chosen to work with the Indoor Air Comfort certification, as it integrates international environmental standards and requirements for VOC emissions into a single label. Examples include BREEAM International, BREEAM-NOR, LEED, FEMB, M1 (including odor and ammonia testing), E1 classification, and French (A+) VOC regulations. The certification also meets the criteria for VOC emissions set by voluntary labeling schemes, such as the Nordic Swan label, the EU Ecolabel, and the international German Blue Angel.
The Indoor Air Comfort certification brings together a range of European requirements and criteria for emissions from products. The certification documents that the covered products have been tested for VOC emissions and comply with the limit values established by the scheme.
Note:
As part of the Indoor Air Comfort certification, Factory Production Control is conducted on an ongoing basis. This control helps document that the certified products continue to be manufactured in accordance with the certification’s established requirements. This helps ensure the proper handling of all auxiliary materials, such as adhesives and oil quantities.
