Easy to maintain

If you want a countertop that's easy to clean, then laminate is the obvious choice.

Wide range of colours

There's something for every style, whether you prefer classic, romantic or colourful.

Affordable

An economically attractive choice where you get value for money and a durable material.

Strong and hygienic with a variety of surface colours and textures

For many years, laminate has been criticised for being boring and ugly – but new production methods and design solutions have made it possible for laminate to fool even the best of people into thinking it is a countertop made of stone, wood, slate, etc.

HORN offers a number of different laminate solutions that vary in colour, surface texture and properties, so it is important to consider your choice of colour and surface texture. We have categorised our range into the following collections so you can distinguish the look of the surface: “Original” (best-selling laminate colours), “Rustic” (slate-like surfaces), “Stone” (imitating nature’s own stones) and “Wood” (like wood – but practical).

Laminate consists of compressed paper with decor paper and a protective coating on top. HORN only produces high-pressure laminate from high-quality materials, which is glued to a chipboard according to the customer’s wishes for shape and thickness.

Of course, the surface is still practical, affordable and easy to maintain and is therefore the obvious choice if you want a countertop that can withstand use without any special maintenance, other than regular cleaning with clean warm water on a wrung-out cloth.

Cleaning

Daily cleaning is done with a damp cloth. Avoid excessive use of detergents/sulfo products, as it may result in a greasy surface. A mild universal cleaner may be used to remove stubborn dirt – Alternatively we recommend HORN Surface Cleaner.

Colored foods and liquids should be removed immediately, as they may cause discoloration.

Maintenance

Laminate is wear resistant and require a minimum of maintenance. Laminate is resistant to common household chemicals and cleansers, but not to strong acids and bases.

Scratch resistance

Never use sharp objects directly against the laminate or linoleum surface; instead, use a cutting board. Avoid materials such as pottery and pots made out of cast iron as they can scratch the surface.

Abrasive cleaning agents such as: Scouring powder, steel wool or corrosive cleaning agents must not be used.

Scratches in unicoloured and/or smooth surfaces may be more visible.

Heat

Laminate countertops is not heat resistant. Constant impact of steam from household appliances should be avoided on laminate countertops with a chipboard core. Always use trivets or similar for hot pots and pans.

Note: If the heat exceeds 60°C, the edge may loosen from the countertop.

This is not covered by our warranty.

Liquid

The surface of laminate is resistance to liquid, but the chipboard on which the laminate is glued is not. For you, this means that the sink will come with a protective backplate and we recommend placing hot objects that could release moisture away from any joints in the countertop.

Installations of sinks

Undermiling sink i laminate

Sinks in our product range are fixed from underneath. The sink is fixed directly underneath the laminate with a depth of 0.8 mm. The gluing is so strong that the sink will withstand a total pressure of up to 150 kilos.

Drilling tap holes directly into tops is not recommended as the core will absorb moisture. If the surface breaks, seal with silicone.

Please note: Penetration of the flange may occur. A sink cannot be underglued in laminate better than the wash basin flange has been manufactured.

When chosing a sink, the materials and thickness of the plate, as well the installation method should be consided, since the sinks flange and tray by optain space underneath the countertop.
