Organic shapes and color trends

More people make bolder color choices and organic shapes.

The softer organic shapes can be integrated into the design of the countertop in many ways. We see that the organic is also included in the countertop decors we are presented with, where patterns and designs are made as true to nature as possible.

The integration of organic forms is also seen as rounded corners and edges - for example at the kitchen island, or in the choice of accessories sush as cutting boards and similar.

Colorful kitchens

In the past couple of years, we have seen a growing treng when it comes to the customer's choice of colors, materials and patterns. While we previously waw that approximately 80% of all kitchens sold where white, the advantage today is much more nuanced.

Warm nuances

The most popular countertops, is simplistically those that manage to create coherence in the kitchen. In recent years, we have seen more warm nuances, and thus more countertops have been chosen that are either brown, biege etc. Or plates with patterns, which have also been warmer than we have previously seen. Our wooden countertops have also been popular choices for this, because wood is generally warm in tone, but also helps to give atmoshphere and character to the kitchen. Here Epoq has chosen one of our best-selling laminates "Cento", which is available in both compact laminate and standard laminate.

Brave choices

Popular designs, colors and nuances are spread over many more countertops and we see this as a sign that the consumer follows their own style to a much greater degree, rather than going with the same solution as everyone else.

Countertops that create coherence

The consumer is not afraid of colour, and although we have a fondness for Scandinavian lightness and light nuances, we regularly see that many people use a darker kitchen to create contrast. The choice of colors and nuances naturally places demands on us as suppliers - We must be as brave as the end user in our selection of novelties, but not leas we must be able to capture the nuances that are selected among the kitchen manufacturers trends so that countertops match the various designs.

Good advices on how to chose countertop

Our best advice when choosing a worktop is to always remember that it is a work surface – It must be able to withstand being used, and we always do our best to ensure the quality of the surface’s strength against wear, cleaning etc. But there is also a difference between us as consumers – Some use the kitchen for cooking every single day, and here you have to pay attention to choosing one of the more hard surfaces. Such as an exclusive ceramic that is completely scratch resistant and heat-resistant, or alternatively a price-friendly laminate og compact laminate, that are incredibly easy to clean.

If you are not a great cook, a linoleum countertop has a really nice surface – soft to touch, colorful and with a stylish matt surface.

However, it is important to point out that everyone, regardless of need, can choose just the countertop they want if they just remember to follow the material’s maintenance and cleaning instructions.

Splash panel

We always recommend choosing backsplash/splash panels, because the countertop is a workplace where cooking, frying and baking is done - and it cannot be avoided that you want to make the back wall dirty. Therefore, you often find that a back wall, without a splash panel, needs to be repaired more often. Over time it can turn out to be economically smart to have a splash panel, because it is easy to clean and maintain. Typically, a splash panel is chosen in the same surface as the countertop to give an exclusive, consistent look - But if you for example have chosen a plain countertop, it can aso be nice to choose a splash panel with a pattern that catches the eye.
