In love with ceramics
When the family began looking into options for a new worktop, ceramic wasn’t a material Hanne knew much about. But that changed quickly.
“I actually didn’t know anything about ceramic worktops before we started looking. But I was quickly won over.”
They chose Gris Du Gent. A surface with a distinctive stone-effect finish that combines a sleek look with the retro feel Hanne wanted to create.
“I particularly noticed the beautiful texture of the stone-effect finish. It’s both sleek and retro at the same time.”
For Hanne, it was important that the kitchen had its own identity and provided a contrast to the modern, newly built house. Here, Gris Du Gent became the element that brought the vision together.
Designed for a busy everyday life
Appearance was important, but functionality carried at least as much weight in the decision.
The family wanted a solution that could withstand everyday use without constant worry about scratches, stains or hot objects.
“It was important not to have to worry about using it. It gives you freedom in everyday life.”
Ceramic is a natural material made from sand and clay, which is fired at very high temperatures. The result is a hard-wearing surface that is highly resistant to the wear and tear of everyday life. At the same time, the material requires minimal maintenance and is easy to keep clean.
For Hanne, this aspect in particular has proved to be a major advantage.
“It just works really well, and it’s easy to clean.”
